| "From Seeking God
to Talking Things Through" His face is etched in worry and concern. He loves his wife and children. "But I don't know how to talk with them in helpful ways." he says, "I am always angry!" He pauses and looks out the window. Tears fill his eyes, "It may be too late" he says softly, "She want nothing to do with me anymore." A haunted look crosses his face. The stillness in the room helps him recognize his sorrow. Deep personal pain shatters our assumptions and presuppositions of a loving God. Yet, we need His comfort. The terror of September 11th, the international war in Afghanistan and Iraq or our own personal sorrows can draw us away from God or renew our trust in Him. The choice is up to us. Still, seeking God when in deep personal pain is vastly different from hearing about God when life is good. That is, however, what we at Cascade are involved in. Each journey of healing is different and personal. Not everyone needs in-depth counselling. Some individuals come for brief marital or family communication guidance. Others, feel "off track" in their lives and wish to get "back on." Still others only want to "talk things through." No matter what the issue--God's redemptive nature encourages us to work through our struggles so that we can be what He intends us to be. While our fees our low compared to other counselling agencies, many people
have difficulty paying them. Consequently, we need church offerings and
annual drives to make ends meet. The board works hard at keeping C.C.C.A.
services available in the lower mainland and up north. Many thanks go
out to them as well as all of you who give so generously of your resources! |
